Changes at Tinicum

When I took up this sport back in 95' I used to play both Tinicum and Tyler. Although my game has gotten better it's hard to get a feel for how much because the layout at Tyler has changed so much over the years.

One thing I really enjoy about Tinicum is that so far as I can tell it hasn't changed at all, yet I am told that it has.

Could anyone share with me some of the changes that have been made at Tinicum since it's instalation.

I really will apreciate any feedback anyone can provide.

Hole#1: - long C pin added many years ago
Hole#2: used to just play to the A pin. Then they eliminated old hole#3 which played right down the road. The pin of old hole#3 was made the C pin of hole#2, and a middle B pin was added.
Hole#3: Used to play down the road. Current hole#3 had a short A pin added a few years ago
Hole#4: Brand new hole added many years ago
Hole#5: C pin way down in the corner added a few years ago
Hole#6: C pin in the woods added a few years ago
Hole#7: C & D pins (with Indian burial mound) added
Hole#8: Basically the same
Hole#9: You used to end the front nine with hole 8, then walk down past the parking lot and past hole#18 to get to 9. Old hole#9 played as a righty hyzer into the woods near current #10's teepad. New hole#9 was added many years ago, with a new C pin later added, I think.
Hole#10: New C pin (straight shot) added a few years ago
Hole#11: Basically unchanged
Hole#12: They removed the A pin farthest left near 11's teepad and added a C pin on the right in the woods near 13's teepad. The A pin was my only ace ever at Tinicum and my career longest at about 330 feet.
Hole#13-14: Basically unchanged, although methinks the C pin on 13 may have been extended at one point, and the A pin on 14 may have been moved around.
Hole#15: Basically unchanged, although a very large dead tree on the left came down a few years ago
Hole#16: Basically unchanged
Hole#17: A new B pin on the left was added many years ago (the R-man position )
Hole#18: New C pin on canal bank was added many years ago. There used to be an A pin but it was lost.

That looks to be a tough course for the crosstown. Too bad I have to work. How's Nocky looking? I believe they got rid of the beehive (I'm sure the cooler weather these past 3 days helped) and maybe they changed the pins on them. I would love to do something of that sort.

Thank you very much for the info. Played Tinicum yesterday, thanks to Matt and Jamey for moving the pins that were moved. I haven't played to 7c since 95' for sure. Back then that position would give me fits, it was a 6 on the score card every time. But yesterday, threw a thumber off of the teepad, 2nd shot was too far away for putting but layed up with a stingray and then made it for three.

I've got a busy Saturday wich is going to run late, could get in the way of "playing" (no camera!) in the xtown tourney. Hopefully I will make it.

Glad you enjoyed the changes at Tinicum Kevin.

I'll be out to work the tee pads, add #9's tee sign and clear the dead branches all this week.

You just make sure you show Sunday to play.

PA 32 NORTH is still closed at Indian Rock. You can go Southbound.

I might play Tinicum this afternoon, how can I get from there to S.MT.? Should I go up the Joisey side or just go up Headquarters Rd?

hqtrs ray. take 412 past palisades, through springtown into hellertown. take a left immediately after the "new" shopping center...make a left at the three-way stop. next stop sign another left past the lehigh/stabler arena...up the hill, voila.
