Hello, I am a disc golfer/film maker and I have just finished filming a movie about disc golf. I would love your thoughts and feelings for the upcoming movie I am creating. I have launched a website called Frolfthemovie.com Please visit the site and view both trailers. Tell me what you think! Thanks

-John

I did not like it either at all. I actually thought it was brutal to watch. I am being honest . Both vids were about 2 minutes long but yet they seemed like they were 10 minutes long because i just wanted them to end. At the beginning of the longer video you show several "loser " types trying to play and in the shorter video you show someone trying to steal baskets. At other times during the videos you show stuff that has nothing to do with disc golf. In closing i would say that i hope you are not serious about the frolf movie because the trailers were beyond bad.

quote from the website "In the style of Christopher Guest, who brought you "Best in Show," "Spinal Tap," and more."

if christopher guest was in a grave...which hes not...he would be rolling in it.

i get the joke. its just not funny. and as seen by other comments...simply doesnt translate to its own target demographic...people familiar with the sport. (..."Best in Show" was still funny to crazy a$$ dog people for example).

looks like some good footage, and you obviously have a skill, and commitment to making videos....why not make a documentary...something that legitimizes the sport like DGM does.

It's funny how his only response to your criticism is basically: "Thanks for taking the time to watch. Please keep visiting the website!"

It's pretty obvious that he is set with the movie he made and his #1 priority right now is publicity. In his defense, he is playing to the stereotypes which is what will sell the movie. If he made a movie about sporty-looking types just playing disc golf, it would be boring and no one would care. How many beer-chugging frat boys do you see on the course these days? Doesn't matter. No matter how outdated the references are and no matter how much people familiar with the sport protest, tye-dyed hippies and goofy looking characters are what will sell tickets. The target demographic is not disc golfers, it's whoever will buy movie tickets.

hmm...then hes got much larger problems on his hands...

if it is whomever buys movie tickets....he REALLY missed the boat!

disc golf is what it is right now... a fringe / niche sport. (one based on volunteers cutting courses on state land). you dont make a film about disc golf (in any genre) for the fame, glory and $$$. you make it because you love the sport, love film making, love comedy....I just hope it translates (whether as comedy or as a vehicle to continue to put the sport out there in any context).

Just like my game....BAD.

The trailers are really tough to watch...aren't trailers intended to draw interest in the full flick (no pun intended)?

In the current economical climate, I can't imagine someone wasting time and money on this type of project. Although I do agree that a documentary on the game would be much better suited.

Keep it cheap and simple and put this thing on youtube and enjoy watching it with the rest of the cast...

I'd rather watch re-runs of "The Golden Girls"...
