I had to travel to Hartford, CT for business recently, looked up closest course and Wickham Park DGC came up. I went there the morning I was set to leave, could not find any baskets, a few teeboxes only. It looks like a pretty good size park, would have like to have tried it. Anyone know if they are renovating there, will it be back?
Oh well not a total loss, I hit Warwick on the way back, forgot how excellent that course is? Played the longs, (Blue tees to blue baskets), great arm stretcher!!! It looks like they are cutting another smaller course within the woods by the back 9 holes. |

Wickham park DGC is closed in the winter. The course is all the way in the back of the park. Hope this helps after the fact.
If you ever get the chance to play that course, one of the best in New England. |

Wickham Park is great! It is definitly worth the drive to Hartford just to play that course. I know tha park closes for winter, but I wasn't aware they took out the baskets--what a shame.

Odd, a city park closing for the winter, looks like it had some nioce long hills for sledding!!! That would explain why I kept passing it by, it was chained shut, had to park at Mexican restaurant & walk up the hill to it. I know I saw a few buildings & playground up there, but where is the first tee located? Hopefully, I will get back there in the Spring. Any other good courses of note in that general area?

Actually, it is a private park, hence the entrance fee and well kept grounds. I have the pleasure of playing this course a few times each year. The first hole is a 350' downhill dogleg left with huge elevation drop, much like #3 at nox, but without the swamp. There is another course somewhat close by, but it is pretty new and heavily wooded from what I hear. Here's the link to their site which includes a map.
