For those who were not there/aware:

We got das boot from South Mtn last friday because the park "closes at 6" even though signs indicate otherwise. I have not gotten the final word from the Director of Bethlehem parks yet about it. But, they feel it is a safety issue with allowing us to play there in the dark.

I have used the: Every other park lets us do it the other days of the week, we will sign a play at our own risk agreement, and we've been doing this for ten years! excuses, but he is not having it.

I even offered to donate all IceBowl donations in the name of Beth parks to the second harvest food bank but NO! was the answer i got.

So, we have some options/decisions to make:
1) Have it at jordan(or somewhere else?)
2) Start birdie dubs at 4:00pm so we're done by 6:00
3) ?????

This is not final yet but please voice your opinion/concerns here.

If need be we can do a petition(sp) or call and complain or go to the media, but i dont want to do that yet, if at all.

For now lets just figure out want we want to do this week and we'll let the Friday night comittee make the call.

My vote is for Jordan at 5:00, because not many can make it out by 4:00pm, and jordan never gives us any grief.

Keep in mind this is only for daylight savings time/winter, it will go back to the mtn when the clocks change.

you asked this guy and he said no. you asked him again with other options and he said no. i would not force the issue as the last thing you want to happen is this guy say no more disc golf at all. I dont know your realationship with the guy but being too persistant can backfire. As the old saying goes"never cross the boss " ..I know how so.mo. doubles night is your favorite so dont put it in jeopardy.

Trust me, that's not the way i want to go about it.

the reality is that this is the first year that the time hasn't changed with daylight savings. in years past doubles had started at 4:00 and typically as the solstice approached, birdie doubles were run to speed up play. usually lights were used on a few holes near the end of the round.

an admirable effort was made to include as many players as possible this year but this has backfired and we're faced with either changing the venue or starting earlier.

i'm open to moving doubles to jordan but only as an alternate to south mountain doubles. i know i'd prefer to be finished earlier than we're finishing now and i'm able to get to south mountain by 4:00 or 4:15 to begin a round. so how about both? 4:00 at south mountain and 5:00 at jordan? heck, what about 6 or 7 if the idea is to get more players out.

a lot of folks are off on friday, let's start doubles at 4 this friday at south mountain and discuss the ideas. or maybe 3 for a double double?

Personally, I enjoy S.M on fri., but till this matter resolves, I'm ok with Jordan @ 5. I think the later, the easier for more people to attend. I think times are crucial for the '9-to-5ers'. You'll need lights anyway to finish a normal round.

Just my humble opinion.

i'm not sure anything was discussed or resolved last night. i'm for keeping it at 4 as in the past and getting home earlier. i know robin expressed interest in this time, anyone else?

I live in bethlehem, so take my opinions with a grain of salt......

I'm saying that were only about 20 days from the shortest day of the year...By this time next month the days will be as long as they are now and only getting longer. Its like maybe 5 weeks of dubs, so I feel that moving locations will just cause confusion, and by the time we get used to the change we will propbably have enough light for south mountain again. I have no objections either way, but I figured I'd express my rationale of the sitiation, so to speak.
