The Hickory Run Ice Bowl is one week away. Hot-stamped Ice Bowl discs are in for am entry fees as are Ice bowl stamped mini's for pros. If there are extras left over and anyone wants to buy either, make sure you see me.
Also, is anyone bringing a soup or chil for the contest? |

An exciting fund-raising opportunity will be held at the HRIB in an effort to gain additional cash for Ending Childhood Hunger. This will be held as our between rounds CTB contest.
Through Disc Golf U, the Official Online Hancapping service for Disc Golf, we have purchased at a huge discount rate of $40.00, an Innova DISCatcher Traveler portable basket. This target sells at a retail price for about $129.00. In exchange for this basket, Disc Golf U has asked us to hand out literature at registration about them and what they do. What we will do is hold our normal CTB contest but the basket will be the prize people will play for. Cost will be $1.00 per throw and you can throw as many as you want. Every penny raised through this contest will go to Ending Childhood Hunger. In the name of charity, bring some extra bucks and take part. Here are the results of the 2009 Hickory Run Ice Bowl at Hickory Run State Park. We had an Ice Bowl Record 87 players show up for our annual charity event.
Thanks to all who came out to play and also to those who made donations and competed for the closest to the basket contest which raised over $150 for Ending Childhood Hunger. Also there were two separate ace pots $1 and $5 that were not hit and those monies also go to the the charity. Mike Solt will provide us with an exact amount when all the funds are totaled, but a preliminary estimation is in the neighboorhood of $700 going to Ending Childhood Hunger. Thanks to Tom Williams, Pat Luchowski, Mike Padgett, Larry Enz, Gene Phillips, Jason Welliver, Alan Mindas, Rob Stahlnecker, CJC (don't know your real name) with helping clear/rock salt tee boxes either days before the event or the morning of the tournament. If I missed anyone, I apologize. Thanks to Jason Welliver, Eric Eichhorst, and Pat Luchowski for making prize donations. I dropped off the money and food to the Commission on Economic Opportunity of Wilkes-Barre this morning and they had a big scale there to weigh the food what we gave them.
The official food weigh-in was 144-pounds. Plus the $800 cash donation. A very hearty contribution from everyone involved at the Hickory Run Ice Bowl...this was easily our biggest ice bowl and largest charitable contribution yet!!! Dave Ritter of CEO was thrilled to death and very humbled that we chose their charity. Thanks again to all who contributed. Mike Solt and I send our sincere thanks to everyone who helped out. |
