Not that there is anything wrong with that. Nike makes some sweet mainstreet sports gear, im sure their discs would be dope too.

no doubt.... but if this sport starts to go mainstream....they will likely just gobble up discraft or innova's operations. (someone is gonna CASH in!!!). then with there $$$ for R&D, demands on plastic vendors (for consistent product), and quality control....

i see a Tiger commercial with him pulling a frisbee out of the bag instead of club...and banging those chains!

I have to disagree with the whole "getting gobbled up" thing. I wouldn't think that Discraft or Innova or anyone else would let their companies be bought out by the sports giant.
Besides, do you really want to start paying $30 for a disc?

If that happens, more and more people are going to go diving in Jordan's pond (#7).

yeah and we could probably just go buy some of all the discs that are already out there. I can't see every random disc stock at every store just vanishing upon buy-out. realistically we could probably go 10years without spending $30 a disc if we just bought some of the plastic that has been made over the last few years. Its already pretty common to pay $30 for an extra special disc.....maybe they'll want 60.

I just hope tiger doesn't have the best stats in the game for disc golf too, as that will belittle the real big names in discy-disc land.

This is only for the Wii. I was going to get Tiger for Xbox but maybe I'll need the Wii one too.

There is another Wii game in development for disc golf. I forget who is behind it though.

pdga is behind the otherone with some small time developer....its gonna be a wii-ware game... downloadable. but my understanding is will feature REAL disc golf courses.

gobble them up....they will. these guys are small potatoes....they dream of cashing in like this. the ones that do it for love of the game...will still do it...its the spirit of this sport... they will just do it in style...

as far as just because major sports manufacturer X now being interested in disc golf.....translating to $30 discs.... ummm... i dont understand. the margin that these companies can achieve on plastic is due to supply / demand of oil (plastics main component), production effeciencies (trust me....if walmart is carrying your merchandise...they change how you run your business), distribution channels (a company like Nike already has the logistics hurdles that even Innova runs into cleared by a MILE)....

the way i see it.... it may mean cheaper discs...in better plastic. there may even be a market for higher end discs (but that will be a market similar to the collectible limited runs). the technology of flying discs (within the standards of the pdga)....is hitting a wall.

what i do know is already happening.... is that this simple little inclusion of frisbees in a ball golf video game....immediatly legitimized the sport in several of my collegue's eyes. i handed out discs to a half a dozen or so people at work in two days...

who the f knows... ...its gonna be interesting
