So the tee-pads at Hacket's Park went in without the much needed alterations. Kudos to you Rocco for putting in another disc golf course with your signature slap-dash design methods. Let the record show that I along with Jayme King and Jason Davis tried contacting the person in charge of this project at the Easton Parks Dept. to no avail. Now we in the Lehigh Valley area are stuck with a course designed seemingly in haste containing several glairing layout flaws. For example hole 10 an uphill blind spike hyzer shot for a righty (most will throw something fast like a Destroyer or Excalliber) playing to a basket not 20 ft. from a playground. How long do you think it will be before a kid gets his ear chopped off? Or hole 9 playing alongside a busy road where cars blaze by at 50+ mph. I could go on but why bother. Let me ask you Rocco, when was the last time you actually played a full round of disc-golf? When was the last time you even picked up a disc and held it in your hand? I've been playing disc-golf for 10 years or so now and can't recall having ever walked an area course with you. Not once! While it vexes me, It comes as no surprise that the courses I have played of your design always seem ill conceived. Perhaps next time you take it upon yourself to design a course you might start by consulting someone who actually plays disc-golf. I'm sure there are several players who would share there ideas with you at no cost. Simply knowing they would be getting a course design worth playing would be payment enough. I will play Hacket's Park but with regret knowing it could have been a much better course if more time was taken during it's conception.

I am planning on playing this course on June 7th. Am from out of town and found it through the pdga site. We are hoping to play mid-morning, and I was worried about how busy the course gets, if it is a good one for beginners, and what the terrain is like (just had knee reconstruction... am up and about but can't go mountain climbing...) Any maps, info, or tips would be greatly appreicated!!

I dont think the course gets all that much use. It is beginner friendly. The longest hole is hole 17 ( 417 feet ). There are some hills but nothing really big. With your knee surgery i might be concerned with the small but steep hill you must walk down after you finish hole 16 to get to 17's tee. The hill is only about 15 feet long but is somewhat awkward. There are tee signs there that indicate hole # hole length and par but there are no next tee pointers so some holes will be hard to find. Dont know if there is a map. Also maybe it is just me but the course itself is somewhat hard to find for first timers but maybe i am just a dummy.

I just went there on Friday. Here's what I saw and found:

1. The open holes are well maintained, kudos to Easton Parks Dept. Trees overhang was taken care of.

2. The basket on 4 is still messed up.

3. They moved the basket of hole 6 to in front of the path. It's a shorter hole and straight. I don't know if this was cause of the neighbors thinking errant tees would strike their houses or because of the vegetation overgrowth near where the old basket location was. I don't have a problem with this.

4. 15-17 looked like the jungle. Unplayable, which is a shame, 17 is the best hole Hackett's has to offer.

5. Both 2 and 18 have longer tees set up with no signs, a blue piece of wood maybe 20-40 feet further than the regulation tees.

6. The last three times I was here, there have been no other players at this course. Usually i see that with mostly 9 holers. It seems other dg'ers like to travel further to play a good 9 holer than play this 18 holer.

Just telling it like it is, Andrew L.

15 thru 17 have been unplayable for at least 2 months. from what i remember they were to at least be mowed 2 times per year. i guess the funding isn't there for the parks dept.

the course does however have a great practice facililty with the driving range and all. most ball golfers just hit 9-sw.

I am very happy to hear this. The former location was trouble with a capital 'T' because an errant drive to the former polehole location could easily end up in the neighbor's yards or worse, out on Hackett Ave. I personally put one only about 10 feet from the road the first time I played there - I am sure recreational / novice players have been throwing all over the place there.

Can anyone who reads this thread take 15, 16, or 17's basket and switch it with the damaged/ mangled?
