what the hell happened to the doubles portion of the tourney???? any one who knows lehigh valley disc golfers knows we look forward to that part of that part of the tourney every year. when the tourney is over we start looking forward to next year. That is our favorite tourney of the year. It has been that way for as long as i have been playing disc golf!! now you just go and change it. That is the stupidest thing i have ever heard and obviously it was a descion that was made without the inquiry of the disc golf community. I currentlly live in california and have already boughten my ticket home for the tourney. Now there is no reason to come home the tourney is no longer original its just another shitty c tier tourney… nice work in wrecking the best part of sportsfest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What happened to doubles???? the was original not many tournament have that aspect. To not have that part of the tourney is crazy. Then when someone posts a comment saying thats stupid you delete it? I posted a comment earlier then i come on the check other posts and its gone? Is this because your trying to not include the disc golf public in on the choice. The tourney has been that way for as long as i can remember! That crazy you would take out the most fun part of the tourney… just stupid… way to go wrecking the tourney.. singles is fun but serious doubles was always a blast nice job….

    Chris,

You are more than welcome to run a doubles tourny any time you like. The reason it was switched is because of the Jersey Jam tourny the same weekend as Sportsfest. They (NJ) are running AM’s on Sat and Pros on Sun, so, WE AS A CLUB DECIDED TO RUN THE OPPOSITE, Pro’s on SAT and AM’s on Sun, this way people can play both days at both courses.

If you would like to run an LVDC BYOpartner Doubles at South Mountain on August 8th you are more than welcome to, and i encourage you to do so, if not, please refrain from belittling our dedicated volunteers.

Thank you in advance for your co-operation,
    Jason Davis
    LVDC – President

Congrats on becoming a PDGA event. I don’t believe it’s “just stupid” to change the format, nor do I think it’s been “wrecked”. You can always host doubles tourneys anytime… maybe even have a GLOW-round doubles on Saturday night.

It’s great that Chirs was able to express himself, but maybe there are other folks that are happy the event is now sanctioned. Anyway, it’s pretty simple, if you don’t like it, don’t play it… or else take time to be appreciative to those who volunteer their time to run these kinds of events and do play it, in fact go ahead and sponsor the event. Our sport needs more volunteers, and less bitching at and disrespecting of them.

I wish I could play this PDGA singles event in beautiful PA. Keep up the great work LV!!

It’s less than three weeks until the tournament. When will the aditional info be posted? I was also coming from California (grew up in PA) and I agree the doubles would be cool, but I’m not coming that far for one round.

How does something like this work. Myself and a friend of mine started disc golf about 2-3 months ago and while we are not the greatest we would like to have fun and play with some new people. Are there minimum requirements to register as an amature? Thanks for the help!

i agree. i’ve done the doubles tourney for 5 years running. this stinks.

  11. On July 16, 2010 tom says:

i’m not good enough to play on my own. doubles is awesome. i realize they may be trying to spur progress in the sport by getting more PDGA involvement, but they clearly didn’t consider the enjoyment so many get from playing doubles with a friend. LAME. i will not be participating. LAME!
